Setting Art Goals for the New Year and another Illustration in the style of Beatrix Potter

It’s a New Year and I’m ready to set my Art Goals. I love new year’s resolutions as it gives one the feel of a clean slate. That last week of December from Christmas to NYE is always a good one to really make lists and plan your year out.

My goals are to continue on with my Animal Characters I started last year, as we have today Lady Penelope Softpaw. I’m also going to focus on my other digital art I love, animal themed, made into fun graphics for things for the home and clothing. I love the process and the result.

I’m also planning on a return to Printmaking and doing a few one off original pieces again. I will most likely offer these for sale here on the site. I’ve wiped my old site and really am starting fresh. There is a certain amount of freedom and hope in starting over. Thinking about how you mean to go on and just starting on day one with a clean slate.

As I make these characters their little stories pop up in my head, so here is a short bit of our Lady Penelope:

Lady Penelope was to meet Josiah H Bunnywort this afternoon in his little cottage.

Lady P needed to arrange Josiah as tutor for her youngest, who was showing an aptitude in the new Sciences.

She was doing her best to remember to focus on Josiah's tutelage talents and not be tempted to have a little bite, One remembered one was a predator at heart, but decorum must win out...

After how, how could her youngest get into Eton if she had 'eaten' her son's tutor?

I’m looking forward to working on this series this year . I’ve enjoyed creating them as well as imagining their little stories. I’m not sure what the final goal will be, but I have been offering them on things like Prints and Teeshirts.

And part of that sharing is in line with my Art resolution to get my site properly in order and to continue to offer my art in many formats, not just prints. Tho, I am excited to start making originals and there may even be variations of these characters as One of a Kind Prints I’ll be hand-making. More on that in the coming month.

I hope all have had a lovely 2023 and are looking forward to 2024. Here is to all of us achieving our goals and remember to stay creative.
