Making a new series of Illustrations in the style of Beatrix Potter

Beatrix Potter style Illustration of a Bunny rabbit by artist donna davis art cute rabbit in clothing

Josiah H. Bunnywort was a collector and a botanist.

He loved to sort and catalog his samples and he was known to sample a few of the more choice plants, it could be excused when on was a Bunny first, then a Botanist second.

I’ve started to create some fun Animal illustrations in the style of Beatrix Potter. I grew up with her stories and books and they’ve always lived with me in the back of my imagination. Of course, being a lover of animals myself, it stands to reason that as I grew in my Art career, animals played a major role in it.

Creating Illustrations in the style of Beatrix Potter seems a natural progression and a wonderful goal for a New Year’s Resolution.

At the end of Summer this fellow just hopped into my consciousness and thus onto my page. A little story swirled about my imagination as well.

Here you can see him in is black and white illustration phase, before I added color.

As mentioned before, I'm rather busy of late making over my little cottage. I've been painting (this time rooms not just canvas and paper) and after sketching a few rabbit portraits (thinking of Easter) I think I'm having fun with it.

As part of my New Year’s resolution has been to return to making over my website, I too am starting fresh with items with my art upon. You can see Lovely little Josiah H. Bunnywort looks a treat as a print, on coasters, or a bag.

Of course, when I get into a thing, it's hard to stop, so there may be more such portraits coming soon. I'll most likely do many more rabbits, but I figure this world needs some other animals as well.

I hope you enjoy this new series I am embarking on. I’m excited to share more of this fellow’s compatriats and chums in the coming year. Be sure to check here and my videos to see the progress on that and other art pieces I’ll be doing.

I hope you find a moment in your day to indulge in your own passions and as always, remember to Stay creative.
